The Pageant
Every year, the Muscogee (Creek) Nation (MCN) Scholarship Pageant kicks off the annual celebration
of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation tribe and her people, better known as the "Creek Festival".
The MCN Scholarship Pageant is a time for
young Mvskoke ladies, ages 14-24, who have a
desire to be an ambassador for their tribe,
to come together and compete for the honor of
Miss or Jr. Miss Muscogee (Creek) Nation.
The Pageant is a night of
pure Mvskoke talent.
Contestants from all over showcase
what it means to be a Mvskoke woman.
The judges usually have a very hard job
trying to pick just one, but it's made easier by a
scoring system. The girls are judged and scored
based on multiple things including an interview, traditional
dress, cultural presentation, and an impromptu question.
To help prepare the young Mvskoke ladies for the
"big night", a mandatory Royalty Retreat is held
for all the contestants. During the retreat, the
ladies will partake in a variety of activities
that will be crucial in helping them
become pageant ready.
After the Pageant, the two winners will continue on a year long journey of discovery, learning, and leading.
